Traditional / In-Situ

One of the most used solutions is traditional / in-situ construction.

Benefits and characteristics

For upgrading and retrofitting an existing room, we offer the choice of two structural finishes - modular panel finish or plasterboard finish, each offering different benefits and characteristics. The choice will be indicated by user preference, existing facilities and access.

Modular panel finish:

  • The walls and ceilings are formed from our System I modular panel system
  • Composite sandwich construction
  • Pressure bonded Rockwool or PIR foam structural core, to provide different levels of insulation, fire ratings and structural integrity
  • Pre-stressed steel skins with a smooth, "Foodsafe" hard PVC laminate facing on visible surfaces
  • All external corners are finished with hard edging; internal corners are coved with white, soft edged snap-on coving and bonded moulded corner pieces
  • All joints are sealed with a liquid weld
  • Ceilings are supported by the panel walls, the host building’s roof or a combination of both
  • Floors are typically finished with either vinyl or epoxy, with a 100 mm coving laid to a reducing strip to the wall, to provide a smooth ledge-free finish.

Plasterboard:

  • The walls and ceilings are lined with plasterboard on a steel stud framework
  • Smooth seamless protective high performance coating finish to walls and ceilings for EU GMP Grade D / ISO 14644 Class 7-8 environments
  • 2 mm vinyl finish to walls and ceilings for EU GMP Grade C / ISO 14644 Class 6 and above. All corners will be finished with coving, before applying vinyl
  • Floors are typically finished with either vinyl or epoxy, with a 100 mm coving laid to a reducing strip to the wall, to provide a smooth ledge-free finish.

Typical applications:

  • New build facilities
  • Upgrading existing facilities
  • Extending existing facilities
  • Project sites within an existing building
  • Fixed room lay-out
  • Existing room structures
  • Retrofitting an existing room to cleanrooms, laboratories and other controlled environments
